Jayne Dopson, Customer Success Manager, Completes Her First 10 Years at Katchr.
To understand Jayne’s journey at Katchr, you actually have to go back more than ten years to when she first left her role as a software trainer at South Yorkshire Police and moved to Videss as a PMS (Practice Management Software) trainer, the start of her eighteen year long career (so far) in legal software. And, this is not untypical for Katchr people because most employees are in it for the long-game. This was when she first met Julie, Graham, Niall, Fergie (that’s Andrew Ferguson, not Alex Ferguson!) and Martin.
After a brief four year run at Videss and another equally short (by Katchr standards) four year stay at another software company Jayne got “the call” from Graham – “come and join Exen Solutions” (the pre-Katchr brand). She leapt at the chance to work again with her old Videss buddies, which now included Andrew Blondeau in his gap year, and handed in her notice the very next day.
Working at Katchr is all about growth. Not just the growth of the company, which is careful and measured (Graham does not hire lots of people quickly but prefers to take the time to find the perfect person for the role) but also personal development is a big part of the our culture. Jayne’s customer facing role as a trainer and as a consultant has not really changed over the years although in Katchr’s early years she also did a stint as a multi-skilled member of the team, embracing tasks like marketing, social media and, accounts on top of her training and consultancy role. Over the last ten years Katchr has supported Jayne in gaining qualifications in Social Media Marketing, Finance and Accounting and, most recently renewing her qualification as a certified IT Trainer. Bravo Jayne!
As you can see, she is a sponge for knowledge and it doesn’t just stop at professional brain food for her, she’s also an avid sci-fi, fantasy, horror and detective box set binger. So, as far as working at Katchr goes, Jayne’s done a longer run than Game of Thrones and that’s why she’ll be enjoying her five-year extra holiday bonus this year which entitles her to a full three weeks off in one go to. Each Katchr employee gets a holiday bonus for every five years they complete with the company so they can live their dreams, sit on a mountain, go on safari, volunteer at an animal rescue centre or dance barefoot around a campfire.
So, what will the next five years look like for Jayne? Well, every year we hold our Katchr Connect annual user conference. In the afternoon Jayne hosts a breakout workshop and each year we need to book a bigger and bigger room as so many people sign up to it. You can see Jayne’s popularity during the morning coffee and pastries session as our clients arrive and there are very few handshakes, it’s all hugs – what more could you ask for from long-term clients. And, it is long-term clients that’s what Katchr is all about. Along with Jayne, Osborne Morris & Morgan and Stephen Rimmer have also just celebrated their ten year Katchr anniversaries. Not by any coincidence, they were also Jayne’s first clients!
As for Katchr’s next five years, Jayne can see us comfortably doubling in size. We are now in a period of sustained high growth as we passed the 100+ clients milestone. What’s the key to this success? Jayne says it is our unique place in the market. Whilst other competitors have undergone consolidations that result in a more generalist service, Katchr has stayed efficient and focused, truly earning our place as the UK’s Legal Analytics Specialist.
Well done Jayne, you help make Katchr what it is!
